Latest Batch of Artisan Fused Glass Cabochons from Cozy Cove Studio

Here is my latest batch of fused glass cabochons. I'm so excited by the organic feel and color combinations!

This was a multi-step process requiring multiple firings in the kiln. I first created "part sheets" by layering pure silver foil and reactive frit in different designs and sizes over sheets of glass in various colors. When fused, the silver and frit react with the base glass to create surprising designs that can never be duplicated.

The next step involves cutting the sheets into rectangular pieces and building "stacks" (or "pyramids") of glass using pieces from the different sheets. The stacks are then put back in the kiln to melt into large puddles.

The puddles are then cut into smaller pieces and fired in the kiln once more, melting into the softly rounded shapes you see here.
